Arrived.
Julian, CA.
Ramona tomorrow.
Now to find a place to lay down.
By the way, the pie and ice cream were delicious!
-------------
Must say, honestly, this was a grueling day.
Buttes Pass.
Sure did not look anything like Montana.
Then Banner-Grade.
Four miles.
Only about four thousand feet elevation at the summit.
Seemed more like 8K.
Was truly difficult making it over the grade.
Stopped a number of times to rest, drink and stretch.
Met three ladies from Illinois.
They were touring and hoping to head up the Coast Road toward San Fransisco, but were not sure with the bridge out and damage to the roads.
They were amazed I was riding a bike up the grade.
They took a pic of me.
Told them to send me an email and let me know I was crazy!
When I pulled into Julian I was bushed.
And hot.
Glad I did not feel dizzy or disoriented as when I got sick.
Very thankful!
Took me most all day to go those short thirty-five miles.
Left at six and got to Julian at two.
Sat at California Pies and Pastries for a good hour, cooling down and enjoying a slice of apple pie, a side of ice cream and some lemonade.
