Got up and packed up early.
On the road by five.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing between Ely and Pioche.
Went over Connors Pass.
7722 feet in elevation.
Beautiful!
Humboldt National Forest runs right through the pass.
Green.
Green fields, trees, even some flowers here and there.
Coming down the pass was exhilerating.
It took me four hours, till nine in the morning, to reach the top of the pass.
Took me half an hour to go down the other side to Majors Corner.
A right hand turn kept me on 93.
Also went over Lake Valley Summit.
6140 feet in elevation.
Going down into Lake Valley was wind to the nth degree!
Would pedal a mile or two, pull to the side of the road, and drink.
That is drink water.
Do not get the wrong idea!
About five in the evening it became much cooler.
That is when I felt the second wind hit me.
Stopped near mp 139.
Good thing I can put up the tent in the dark.
Fifty-six miles through White Pine County.
Thirty-three miles through Lincoln County.
Eighty-nine mile day!
I had all my water bottles filled before I left in the morning.
Could have used another two or three liters.
The place I camped was behind a farmers gate.
The kind made with barb wire and pieces of limbs.
Felt extremely safe.
And yes, I did sleep quite soundly.
