Talk

June 16 2017

I am awake early after a wonderful evening with Tim and Kate.

Making sure I write down as much as I can remember from the last couple days.

Thinking of sending my cook kit and sleeping liner home.

Only used the kit once and the liner is too warm now.

Need to shave this morning.

Always makes me feel better.

Ok.

That was at 6.30 this morning.

I did shave.

Cleaned up.

Went out to the Depot Grill.

Seems a cool place to hang out, chat, and enjoy some good food.

And the food was good.

Blueberry pancakes.

And a great time to talk with Art Hoag.

Last year, at age seventy-one, he pedalled his fat bike from Twin Falls to New York.

A wealth of information.

More than that, a very down to earth kind of guy.

Easy to talk with.

Just like Tim and Kate who hosted me at their house last night.

Art bought a piece of land in the downtown area a number of years ago and converted it into a very peaceful, relaxing little area.

The labyrinth walk is one quarter mile if you start from the entrance.

We rode and talked for, I would say, ten miles, or thereabouts, as I left Twin Falls and headed toward the Nevada border.

Although I turned the wrong way onto 93.

Silly.

Something to laugh about!

Quite a number of hills on today's ride.

Rained on twice.

That actually felt pleasant.

Not quite sure what time I arrived here in Jackpot.

I stopped a couple times on the way to fill my water bottles.

And the recumbent is a unique ride.

Which allows for questions.

And that leads to me talking.

Well...

Somtimes that lasts longer than expected!

There is a really wonderful little cafe on the right hand side of the road.

Fifteen or so miles from Nevada.

The waitress directed me around to fill the water bottles myself.

That does not happen often!

Talk does happen often.

Sometimes good.

Sometimes bad.

In joy and gratitude.

In anger and despair.

God's Word is not immune from those same emotions.

Our words should mimic the character of God.

So yes...

It is ok to speak in despair.

It is ok to shout.

Cry.

Rejoice!

The Lord did and does.

So can we.

Oh, and the jackpot has already been filled.

Christ is the best jackpot we could ever have.

On to Wells in the morning.

Blessings!

D.
