Teamwork

June 15 2017

I was sitting at the Shoshone snackbar, eating a burger, still wearing my bright green bike jacket when Tim walked in.

Never met him before.

Depot Grill
Norm's

Tim and Kate Coiner

Farmer.

Then chiropractor for twenty-two years.

Just retired.

Lots of dairy farms in this area.

Stirfry (homemade)
cantalope
mashed potatoes
two slabs of smoked ham

Watched "Julie/Julia"

Forty-five miles from Nevada.

These two are a wonderful couple.

He came, picked me up from downtown Twin Falls and drove me to their home.

He could just as easily given me directions.

The other man I met today was Jesse Roe.

He grew up in Ephrata.

Helped me get the recumbent down a set of stairs after I had crossed over the river into Twin Falls.

Siad he still has a few relatives up in the Ephrata area.

He had hitchhiked from SD over to Phoenix and up this way.

There is a huge base jumping going on this weekend.

Trying to break the world record.

Something like 61 times in one day.

And the guy scales the wall back up after each jump!

I guess he has a crew that have a new chute packed and ready each time.

Teamwork.

That would be the word for this day.

I cannot do this ride on my own.

Sure, I am in the seat doing the pedalling.

The goal of helping others through this ride is not solely on me.

Sponsors.

Supporters.

Pray-ers.

Encouragers.

It is a team effort.

Reminds me of the teamwork God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit have done on restoring broken and battered lives.

Mine is only one example of what that kind of teamwork can do.

It is not like doing a team project in a HS Civics or Science class.

You know, the one where one person, most likely you, does all the work.

All the research.

All the writing.

But all three of you get the same marks.

Seems a bit unfair, does it not.

Well, in working with the three above, all work together.

In such a synch and unity that cannot be found in the most advanced and detailed engineering.

Nothing comes close.

God is putting some amazing people in my path as I do this pedal for missions.

Could not orchestrate it any better even if I knew how.

Shalom and goodnight.
