June 7 2017
It was cold last night.
Long pants and jacket on to stay warm.
Forty-five miles to Salmon ID today.
Robert, the host at the campground/RV Park, is very helpful.
The site is right on the bank of the Salmon River.
Hot showers.
Laundry facility.
Might as well get everything done while waiting for the tires to arrive.
Would much rather be riding south, getting through Idaho and into Nevada.
Alas, it is much wiser and safer to wait.
So I wait.
Gary from Northwest Recumbent Cycles ordered the tires for me.
When he called me back I asked if he needed my card number.
Said since this was a fundraiser ride he was helping by sending the tires.
I am in awe and amazement!
Shedding tears of joy and laughing at the same time.
All I want to do is help people.
And I am being blessed.
I get the privilige of pedalling a bike, sharing about missions, meeting people, living life.
So why me?
I simply want to be obedient.
Tent set up.
As one comes into town, there is a drive that goes up to an AOG church.
It is a most fantastic location to sit and admire the beauty of the mountains.
I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the Lord is doing!
Sixty-some miles to Challis tomorrow.
Or the next day.
Will wait on the tires.
And tonight while I was fueling up at the local eatery I met a fellow.
His name is Joe.
Wish I had gotten a picture of him.
We exchanged cards and conversed over our mealtime.
He is a Senior Engineer at Applied Science and Engineering.
A company he and two friends started up a year ago.
A great guy.
Said if I ever needed anything while I was on this ride for missions to give him a call or email.
Thanks Joe for the offer.
I will certainly keep it in mind.
Pedalling into wind on a flat stretch of highway can be just as difficult as pedalling up a six or seven degree pass.
Do not let the smooth roads deceive you!
Thanks to all of you who are following along on this adventure.
Shalom,
D.
