Jonathan and Jennifer

June 18 2017

Happy Fathers Day!

Last night I broke down and got a room.

Ate a club sandwich and a bowl of chili at Bella's.

Took a hot shower.

If you are reading this blog, you will know I had trouble with the rumble strips yesterday.

Twenty miles into todays ride the rumble strips were gone!

Milepost 54!

There is a twelve mile section of the highway that is being worked on.

A bit narrow in that area.

And I found out the name some people give the stretch of 93 from Jackpot to Wells.

Suicide highway.

A rather comforting description would you not agree!

Much less traffic today.

Which I am glad for as yesterday's ride was a bit tense at times.

Today I went through all four water containers plus a Sobe I had kept.

The skin on my legs is starting to look like leather.

And my arms are not far behind in taking on that same texture.

Bikers tan.

Lying in my tent, without the rain fly on, watching the sun as it slowly sinks behind the mountains.

Now to where I am staying tonight.

I usually pull off into the beginning of a driveway so there is some distance between me and the road.

Five(ish) when I did so today.

Knew I would not make the next town.

There was a wide spot where I could set up the tent.

Yet also knew it might be disconcerting for the owners to look outside and wonder what is happening.

So I drove down the drive, went a little hesitantly to the door and knocked.

And that is how I met Jonathan and Jennifer.

Jonathan said yes to pitching the tent.

No sooner was it set up then Jennifer came and invited me to eat with them.

BBQ ribs
Broccoli salad
Green beans
rolls

Unexpected and fantastic delicious meal!

They come here each summer to farm alfalfa.

2200 acres.

Not just any alfalfa though.

Organic.

And they just recently got certified.

Way to go!

They are doing some of the farmwork at night due to the heat.

Had some wonderful conversation and told them some about the ride.

I lnow people have been praying about me having God moments and divine meetings and encounters along the way.

They are certainly happening!

Tomorrow is onto Ely.

Sixty-one miles from where I am.

Today's ride.

Seventy-five miles from where I started in Wells, Nevada.

That is all for today.

Shalom and good night.

D.
